- NMSU Carlsbad is independently accredited by the North Central Association and is a two-year branch community college of New Mexico State University system.
- The NMSU Carlsbad campus community has digital access to a variety of academic resources supplementing traditional print material. Current faculty, staff, online and on-campus students in certificate programs, associate degree and transfer programs have remote access to electronic library resources.
- While students and NMSU affiliates are the primary clientele of the library, the Carlsbad and Eddy County communities are welcome to visit the campus library during regular hours. The Library provides learning support to the Adult Basic Education (ABE) program, Community Education and vocational initiatives linked to area industries.
- The physical collection is in constant change as print editions are updated or replaced in new format. The library contains approximately 14,000 items including digital media, books, journals, magazines and newspaper subscriptions. The Carlsbad campus library provides a link to online information available to all New Mexicans through the New Mexico State Library, El Portal.
