The Associated Students organization is the recognized student governing organization that supervises and appropriates all student activity funds. Meetings are held monthly and are open to students, faculty, and staff. Members are elected at the close of each semester to serve during the next to regular semester. PTK is the international honor society for two-year colleges, emphasizing leadership, scholarship and service. To be eligible for membership, students must have a 3.5 GPA, completed a minimum of 12 credits of non-developmental coursework, be of good character, and recommended by faculty. A one-time membership fee of $65 is required.
A national non-profit student organization, Skills USA is a partnership of students, teachers, and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. Activities include participating in state competitions each year. Membership is open to any interested student. A $20 membership fee applies each year.
NM Alliance for Minority Participation
NM AMP is a statewide program funded by the National Science Foundation and provides a variety of help for minority students interested in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math fields). Community college students have the chance to attend the NM AMP Undergraduate Research Conference held in Las Cruces, earn a $1000 transfer scholarship to any 4-year New Mexico university, and participate in the Summer Community College Opportunity in Research Experience (SCCORE) at NMSU. NM Student Veterans of America
A non-profit coalition of student-veteran groups on college campuses across the globe. The goal of the NMSU Carlsbad SVA chapter is to bring together all NMSU Carlsbad veterans and their families. The NMSU Carlsbad SVA chapter supports the academic achievement of its members.
American Criminal Justice Association
The Beta Alpha Delta (BAD) chapter of the national American Criminal Justice Society. In addition to campus and community service projects, members participate in regional and national competitions. Membership is open to anyone interested in the field of Criminal Justice.
Student Nursing Association
SNA is an organization that mentors the professional development of future registered nurses and facilitates their entrance into the profession by providing educational resources, leadership opportunities, and career guidance. Membership is open to nursing and pre-nursing students.
