Monday, March 23, 2020: Update from NMSU Carlsbad’s Campus President, Dr. John Gratton

NMSU Carlsbad will be recognizing spring break this week. The campus will only have essential personnel present at designated times in order to receive deliveries and mail. All campus areas have been sanitized with notices of no entry posted on these areas. We do not have custodial services on campus except for resanitization of designated areas on Friday of each week. All staff have been sent home to work from home until further clarification is received. When classes resume on Monday, March 30, all instruction should be delivered online and students and faculty should not report to campus. Further developments regarding coursework will be forthcoming as more information is received. The library will be open on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings but only faculty, staff, or students will be allowed entry.

The best advice I can give you is to observe safe practices. Please avoid group settings (more than 10 people) and keep six feet away from other people. Cough into your arm and wash your hands as often as possible. If you start feeling ill then please see your doctor and get tested. There are no reported cases in Eddy County to date but there is a reported case in Lea County.
